Probability of a Series of Independent Events

  1. Using the Calculator:
    • Enter Probability of Event A (P(A)): Type the probability of Event A occurring, as a decimal between 0 and 1 (for example, 0.6 for 60%).
    • Repeat Times for Event A: Specify the number of times you want Event A to occur. This is an integer greater than or equal to 1.
    • Enter Probability of Event B (P(B)): Type the probability of Event B occurring, also as a decimal between 0 and 1.
    • Repeat Times for Event B: Specify the number of times you want Event B to occur, as an integer greater than or equal to 1.
  2. Calculate:
    • Click Calculate Probability. The calculator will display the following probabilities:
      • Probability of A occurring [X] time(s): Probability that Event A occurs as specified.
      • Probability of A NOT occurring: Probability that Event A does not occur.
      • Probability of B occurring [Y] time(s): Probability that Event B occurs as specified.
      • Probability of B NOT occurring: Probability that Event B does not occur.
      • Probability of both A and B occurring [X] and [Y] times: Probability that both events occur as specified.
      • Probability of neither A nor B occurring: Probability that neither event occurs.
      • Probability of A occurring but not B: Probability that A occurs, but B does not.
      • Probability of B occurring but not A: Probability that B occurs, but A does not.
  3. Reset:
    • Click the Reset button to clear all input fields and remove the displayed results, allowing you to start a new calculation.

Using this calculator provides a clear picture of the likelihood of complex scenarios involving two independent events and their repeated occurrences.
